Agronomic and quality impact of a shortened translocation for wheat streak mosaic virus resistance

چکیده
Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV) is a mite-vectored with substantial economic impact on wheat production. One of the effective sources resistance to WSMV, Wsm1, carried translocation from Thinopyrum intermedium. The original whole arm form this (T4DL·4JsS) was highly against WSMV but yield penalty in absence virus. Shorter recombinants Th. intermedium are now available. This study characterized agronomic performance near-isogenic sib-pair families 10 trials using one these shortened T4DL·4DS-4JsS translocations, named “rec213,” visible disease. had no effect heading date, associated modest reduction (≤ 4.8 cm) plant height, and favorable 12.6%) grain those environments where significant genotype effects were detected. did not affect protein concentration or lactic acid-sodium dodecyl sulfate solvent retention capacity, measure gluten quality. However, slightly 5%) lower quality scores than paired without translocation. We do expect difference be barrier utilization rec213 for we encourage breeders work within high-quality genetic backgrounds when monitor breeding selections. Improved codominant PCR-based marker assays developed facilitate use Wsm1 trait programs.

The Effect of High Temperature Treatment on Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus Resistance and Certain Resistance-Related Chemicals in Bread Wheat
Background and Aims: To evaluate the effect of temperature on wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV) resistance phenotype, through total protein, phenol, and peroxidase activity in bread wheat, a factorial experiment was conducted using Adl-Cross (resistant) and Marvdasht (susceptible) cultivars. Materials and Methods: Results showed that incubation at 32C changed the gene expression for resistance ...

A Dominant Gene for Resistance to Wheat Streak Mosaic Virus in Winter Wheat Line CO960293-2
Wheat streak mosaic (WSM), caused by Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV), is a devastating disease in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in the Great Plains of North America. Use of resistance is an effective and environmentally sound method to control the disease. In this study, six wheat genotypes were compared for their responses to WSMV infection under growth chamber conditions. The three resistant ...
